MILKA DUNO TO SPEAK IN MALAYSIA IN CELEBRATION OF 2010 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
Duno to be Officially Received by Venezuelan Embassy to Malaysia
 
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 5, 2010) – Milka Duno will speak at the 6th annual Women of Independence Conference in celebration of the 2010 International Women’s Day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this March 9 and 10, 2010.
On Monday, March 8, Duno will be “Officially Received” by the Venezuelan Embassy to Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
The conference will be under the patronage of Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, The Queen of Malaysia.
Officiating this event will be Malaysian Prime Minister and his wife, Y.A.B. Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak and YABhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor.
This year’s conference theme – “The Power of One” was chosen based on the rising ability of women in standing alone and making courageous changes to their lives and those of others.
“I am very honored to accept this invitation from the Queen of Malaysia and the First Lady of Malaysia to speak at the Women of Independence Conference in Kuala Lumpur,” said Duno. “I’m proud to have been selected to speak along with many other women who have strived to overcome obstacles and have achieved their dreams!”
Duno, a keynote speaker, will speak on the topic “The Power of Determination – Driving Dreams!”
In commemoration with International Women's Day, the ‘Women of Independence’ Conference will embody the expansion and strengthening of women independence and the escalating empowerment of womankind. Showcasing the accomplishments and achievements of an illustrious panel of exceptional women who are leaders in their fields; business, politics, academia and philanthropy, this prestigious event aims to salute the great distances women have come and at the same time remind them of the distances they are capable of going to achieve the true essence of independence.
 
Other speakers include Stacey Allision – the first woman to climb Mt. Everest, Dr. Noeleen Heyzer, Under Secretary General, United Nations and Dr. Sima Samar . Human Rights Activist, Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and  Salma Ali Saif Hareb from United Arab Emirates, CEO of JAFZA & Economic World Zones
– to name a few.
The First Lady of Malaysia, YABhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, will deliver the opening address.
As part of her visit to the Venezuelan Embassy to Malaysia, and through her Milka Way Program, Duno will speak with younger generation Malaysians and children of the embassy staff at the Official Residence of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. She will interact with the children with a Q & A after her speech and will pose for photos and sign autographs.
Later that evening Duno will attend a dinner in her honor hosted by Manuel Antonio Guzman Hernandez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Federation of Malaysia, with concurrence to the Royal Thai Kingdom. Guests will include embassy staff and family members.
“I am honored to be received by the Venezuelan Embassy and the Ambassador,” said Duno. “I’m excited to meet and speak with some children of Malaysia and the embassy staff. It is a wonderful opportunity that fills me with pride!”

YORBA LINDA, CA (March 1, 2010) --- Chicagoland's largest custom car show will feature Ashley Force Hood's Ronald McDonald House Charity themed NHRA Mustang Funny Car. O'Reilly's Auto Parts and South Oak Dodge will present the 48th Annual World of Wheels, March 5-7 2010, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.   Force Hood’s Mustang will be on display as part of the Chicago BrushMaster Kustom Kulture Art Auction with all proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Fans will be able to get their photo taken beside the Mustang throughout the weekend and get an up close look at one of the fastest race cars in motor sports.
Ashley Force Hood campaigned the Ronald McDonald House Charities Mustang at two events (Seattle and Sonoma) during the 2009 Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. The attention the car generated for the Ronald McDonald House Charities is something Force Hood is proud to continue into 2010.
“I was thrilled to be able to help raise awareness and donations for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Seattle and Sonoma. BrandSource, one of our major sponsors, is very involved with this organization and their president Bob Lawrence, started talking with us about getting involved in early 2009. We got really excited about all the opportunities to help so this program came together very quickly,” said Force Hood.
“The biggest thing for me was being able to race this amazing looking Ford Mustang. I knew it would draw a lot of attention and I wanted to turn that excitement into donations for Ronald McDonald House Charities. I have so many fans that are children I really want reach out to them and their families to encourage them to give to or volunteer with this great organization.”
In just two previous World of Wheels Custom Car shows, the Chicago BrushMasters have raised over $110,000.00 for the charity.  The Kustom Kulture Auction will feature the work of over 100 automotive artists from across the nation. Items auctioned off will include gold leaf lettered, pin-striped and air brushed pieces of Kustom Kulture Art and Automotive Memorabilia.
Auctions will be conducted Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 4 pm and 7pm with a final auction held on Sunday at 4pm. Ronald McDonald himself will be appearing near the Ashley Force Hood Mustang display both Saturday and Sunday 4 pm to 5 pm.
Fans are encouraged to come out and help support Ronald McDonald House Charities in building the world’s largest Ronald McDonald House at 211 E. Grand Ave. in Chicago.  At 14 stories, and 86 rooms, it will help keep families together during their child’s time of medical crisis.

NASCAR Team Owner Roger Penske Helps Open Doors for Women’s Careers in the Automotive Industry
 
PHOENIX, AZ (Feb. 18, 2010)Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation has awarded Bobbie Newgard of Salisbury, N.C. the $25,000 Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship, made possible through the donation of NASCAR team owner and chairman of Penske Corporation, Roger Penske.
 
The Penske award is part of the Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund – a scholarship program designed to help women gain the education they need to pursue careers in the automotive industry. Davis, a UTI alumnus who went on to become a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series official, died tragically in 2008.
 
Newgard, whose love of racing stems from working as a pit crew member for a Pro-Stock team at NASCAR-sanctioned Thompson Speedway in Connecticut, is using the scholarship to help fund her education at NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, N.C.   
 
“I hoped for an opportunity to receive a technical education and continue a tradition of excellence in the great sport of racing,” said Newgard. “The Brienne Davis scholarship will enable me to honor her memory and fulfill my dream of becoming a NASCAR official.”
 
“Brienne Davis was a remarkable person who continues to inspire women who seek a technical education,” said Veronica Meury, vice president and executive director of the UTI Foundation. “The Foundation is excited to announce the newest scholarship winner and to be associated with the Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund. Programs like this help deserving women pursue their dreams of a successful career in the automotive industry.”
 
In addition to the $25,000 scholarship, the UTI Foundation will also be awarding three $10,000 Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarships to women who will be attending the UTI Avondale Ariz., Glendale Heights, Ill. and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. campuses.
 
“The Brienne Davis Scholarship Fund is a great program that continues to help women achieve their automotive career goals through the UTI curriculum,” said Odis Lloyd, managing director, NASCAR Automotive Group. “There is no limit to what aspiring and talented females like Newgard can achieve in the automotive industry and the sport of NASCAR.”
