Receive a golden ticket and win!

MIS Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock giving away upgrades in ticket mailings

BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 13, 2010) — Like Charlie Bucket in Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” finding a golden ticket could lead to an experience of a lifetime for Michigan International Speedway race fans this summer.

That’s exactly what MIS and its Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock want to accomplish when tickets and camping are mailed to fans beginning in April. That’s when more than 650 randomly selected fans will receive a “golden ticket” in their mailing and win one of many great experiences that will be given away through the Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock.

Experiences will include garage passes, access to pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions, pace car rides, VIP access at MIS concerts and more for both the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 weekend, June 11-13, and Show Me the CARFAX Race Weekend, Aug. 13-15.

“We pride ourselves on giving our fans the best possible experiences when they are here through the Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “This golden ticket program is exciting because we will randomly draw names and send upgrades to them in their ticket mailings. We are giving away some really great experiences for both the June and August race weekends so be on the lookout. You could be selected!”

All upgrades will be for the account holder and a guest. If fans receive a golden ticket, depending on the experience awarded, they must redeem it at the MIS credential office, located off the US-12 entrance to the track, or at the Mobile Ticket Office (MTO) in the New Holland Fan Plaza. Instructions on where to redeem will be provided on the back of the golden ticket.

Curtis and his staff are committed to providing its fans with memorable experiences while they visit MIS each summer and the Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock is an extension of that commitment. Fan feedback has also played an important role in many of the $55 million worth of facility improvements that the speedway has invested over the last few years as well as the creation of the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) and Fan Advisory Network (FAN), which weighs in on many MIS initiatives.

The Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock started last summer with much fanfare. The program gave away experiential prizes during the June and August race weekends last season including waving the green flag during qualifying laps and giving the command to start engines as the grand marshal for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

“It’s important for us to show our fans how much we appreciate them for choosing Michigan International Speedway during both good and bad economic times,” Curtis said. “You can’t buy loyalty — you earn it. So we’re continuing to show fans how much their loyalty means to us by providing opportunities that are unique experiences that will create lasting memories of their time at MIS.”

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.

Great Lakes Wine Festival

BROOKLYN, Mich. (March 24, 2010) — Here’s looking at you, Michigan.

Michigan International Speedway, a 1,400-acre historic NASCAR racetrack in Southeastern Michigan’s Lenawee and Jackson Counties, will host the inaugural Great Lakes Wine Fest, June 26-27.

This first-ever event of its kind in the state is a partnership between MIS and the Michigan Wine Foundation. The event will feature the tastes and toasts of Michigan wineries, breweries and eateries in a unique setting — a NASCAR racetrack.

“We are really excited to add another great event to our season,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “We’re known primarily for being a NASCAR racetrack, but our natural beauty and resemblance to a national park and the ‘great escape’ feel our guests have when they’re here make hosting a wine festival a natural extension for us.  Once again, we’re proud to be the host venue for a collection of businesses that make the Great Lakes State truly awesome and we look forward to growing this event into one of the largest in the region.”

Award-winning wineries from across the state of Michigan will be on hand showcasing more than 100 varieties of wine including, Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet and others.

“I am excitedly anticipating the MIS wine fest,” said Liz Berger, president of the Michigan Wine Foundation and Operations Manager at Chateau Chantal Winery in Traverse City, Mich. “This will be a great venue in which to offer the public a taste of all the great wineries and breweries in Michigan.  People will be able to meet the wine makers and brewers, learn about our Michigan grown and crafted beverages, and mostly have a great time.  Michigan has been lacking a festival that represents the entire state, but this centrally located, top- notch facility will be able to offer an unmatchable summer festival.  No one will want to miss this inaugural event!”

Guests may sample wines, beer and food from Michigan vendors, and buy favorite wines by the bottle or case. The festival’s on-site retail store will have select wines available for purchase at the event.

In addition to wine and beer sampling, seminars covering wine, food and other topics of interest will be held throughout the venue. Live entertainment throughout the weekend will also be featured.

Advance one-day tickets are $25; two-day tickets are $45. Each ticket includes $10 worth of tasting tickets per day. Designated driver tickets are $15. This event is for guests 21 and older.

Camping is also available for $40 in the track’s MISCamping.com Infield, or $100 in the MISCamping.com Turn 2 Retreat.  Turn 2 camping includes water and electric hookups.  Need an RV? A turn-key camping option is available for the wine and brew fest at www.MIScamping.com.

Tickets and details are available at www.GreatLakesWineFest.com or by calling 800-354-1010. Also, please visit our Twitter feed @GLWineFest for information about the wine festival.
