Comments:The anthem should be presented in such a way that does not reflect on or draw attention to the performer. It is a salute to flag and country.

Comments:Before my dad passed away, we watched NASCAR together - even going back to the pre-tv days sitting in the car, listening to it on the radio on a HOT Saturday afternoon under the trees. In the later years, our deal was that he got the remote during the National Anthem & I 'managed' the remote for the commercials. Out of respect for the flag, he'd mute anyone who tried to, in his words, to "ham it up" because being a veteran, he loved the flag and all it represents and to sing the Anthem that differently was wrong. (We like the various military choruses, the kids at Bristol and the like-it's respectful) I agree 100%, a performer should sing it loud, strong,& passionately (Whitney Houston/Faith Hill) because of the sacrifices for freedom the flag represents. Never should it be sung in anyway that shows flippantcy (sp?), ego, or disrespect (Rosie). Incidentially, yes, this is a free country...ok but burning the flag should void someone's citizenship. From comments above, YEAH MIKE!! Tell you one you can repeat..."opinions are like feet...most have a couple and some stink, but that's mine"!

Comments:I am sooooo thankful that I've stumbled accros the web site where the fans are also American Patriots who believe in respecting the Anthem. I, too, have been EXTREMELY discouraged about the way every singer "try to make it a pop song by warbling their out of tune voices all over the scale." (from TD) There are times when I just want to hit the mute button, but... out of repsect to the Flag I don't. Ironcially, the best one I've heard in a very, very, looooong time to sing the Anthem CORRECTLY was an America's Got Talent contest winner, Terry Fator. Thank you Terry!!! Terry Fator

Comments:Most of the time, the presentation of the National Anthem prior to the race is very much like some American Idol auditions. Some are pathetic, and a few are good. These guys did the best job of singing the National Anthem that I have seen or heard in a long, long, time. I give them a 10+.

Comments:It amazes me that Nascar or track owners are able to find enough people who want to butcher the national anthem. It is a disgrace how some of these nitwits put their own twist on what is suppose to be a beautiful song. Where do they find these idiots?

Comments:Either get a military band or chorus or the MRO kids or don't bother doing it at all. It's our National Anthem for God's sake, not some pop tune subject to the musical whims and interpretations of somebody who can't remember the words. Barry is write about the United States Code. Show the anthem and the flag the respect they deserve.

Comments:To Barry of St. Louis: You are correct for civilians. Veterans are now authorized to give the hand salute during passing of the flag and the national anthem, courtesy of G. W. Bush as of 2008.

Comments:Please ... the National Anthem already has a tune,is a beautiful anthem, and well represents a great Nation and its people. Don't hire those idiots who try to make it a pop song by warbling their out of tune voices all over the scale.

Comments:Why does whom ever hires these performers not first tell them "You will not reinvent the Anthem" Period! You will sing it as per note on a music sheet. Providing any of them can read music I get sick to my stomach listening to these Hollywood types 1. Who dont know the words. 2. Cant carry water let alone a note. 3. The egos of these so called artists are bigger than there heads. Seems they want to change the Anthem singing it "my way" and try and impress the world. GAG ME! Im a bugler and play taps at Veteran funerals. I would be embarassed to miss a note let alone intentionally changing any of them to massage my ego. Please! Please! Please! Demand it be sang right or look for local talent that can. Ive heard kids at the age of 12 yrs old sing the "National Anthem better than 90 percent of these BOZOS! At NASCAR race introductions. Honor our country not the Hollywood stars
