CONCORD, N.C. -- Feb. 1, 2010 -- Do you think you can hold your own against Steve Kinser and the toughest racers on the planet? Now is your chance to find out. THQ Inc. has created the all-new video game World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars exclusively for the Xbox 360(R) and it's as close to real life as you can get.
Including a myriad of options, this game is ideal for everyone -- from the rookie gamer to the veteran racer -- and also features 12 of the most famous dirt tracks in the land, including Knoxville Raceway, Eldora Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, Lernerville Speedway, The Dirt Track at Charlotte, and Silver Dollar Speedway.
In the game, players can race against 18 top drivers like current champion Donny Schatz, 20-time champion Kinser, Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers, and Danny Lasoski in 24-car main events featuring full fields, -- a first in any Sprint Car game.
"Dirt Racing fans have been asking for this game and now a completely new World of Outlaws Sprint Car game brings the racing action to everyone," said Peter Armstrong, Director of Product Development for THQ Kids, Family and Casual Games. "We built the game from the ground up to give everyone a chance to get behind the wheel of a Sprint Car. Whether racing against AI competitors or side-by-side against friends, fans can now prove their mettle on the track."
In addition to the life-like recreation of the various venues -- from the banking to the type of dirt on the track -- the game features a 40-race season, multiple players, a point system and purses -- you can even create a team with real-world sponsorships. While it builds on the successful games of the past, its the most authentic World of Outlaws game created to date.
The game also includes unparalleled adjustability for the cars -- from shocks to wings -- and you can choose from several views to see every corner of the car. Just like a real World of Outlaws race, an event starts with hot laps and winds its way to the A-main. In fact, the track conditions even change throughout the event. Plus, you can race eight friends in five multi-player events using Xbox LIVE(R), race with a two-player split screen or compare your lap times with people across the country.
Still, you don't have to be an expert to enjoy the game.
"Our goal was to design an exciting game that was as close to reality as possible but one that a whole family could enjoy no matter their gaming skills," said World Racing Group Chief Marketing Officer Ben Geisler. "The users can make World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars as challenging they want it to be."
Fans wont have to wait much longer to add it to their video game collection. World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars is scheduled to begin shipping to stores on Feb. 9, 2010, in conjunction with the season-opening DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park near Daytona Beach, Fla.
